With a fresh gameplay trailer showing players in action, publisher Nacon and developer ACE Team have not only provided a look at the eerie mechanics of The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, but also finally confirmed the release date: July 15, 2026.

Treasure, madness, and a very different kind of Day of the Tentacle

The game sends you and up to three companions on a conquistador expedition to an unknown continent. Setting out from a galleon, you venture mission by mission into a cursed jungle, equipped with weapons and gear of your choosing. Your objective: reach a legendary underground city filled with unimaginable riches.

The problem is already hinted at in the game’s title — Cthulhu. The deeper you venture, the more your perception begins to unravel. Hallucinations, supernatural creatures, and pure Lovecraftian madness constantly threaten your sanity. The new trailer shows moments where players suddenly see an ally covered in thousands of tiny tentacles or encounter a gigantic centipede that definitely wasn’t on the expedition’s map.

The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu is based on H.P. Lovecraft’s short story The Mound and heavily emphasizes team cooperation. Communication is essential, but when madness takes hold, even your own teammates may no longer be trustworthy. One stray shot, one wrong decision — and the entire mission can spiral into chaos.

According to the developers, the gameplay video was recorded with streamers using a beta build and offers a solid first glimpse of what players can expect this summer.
