Solve another mystery as The Rise of the Golden Idol is Out Now!
At first glance, the indie detective adventure The Case of the Golden Idol didn't look particularly appealing. With its almost bizarre retro look and unconventional colour palette, the game from developer Color Gray Games evoked nostalgic memories of MSDOS games from the early 90s. And yet The Case of the Golden Idol has a gigantic fanbase, because the puzzles, the cases to be solved and the gameplay as a whole were completely convincing. That's why the review score on Steam is still ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ with almost 6,500 user ratings. Metacritic: 84/100.
Now the sequel is here, The Rise of the Golden Idol. Colour Gray Games has remained true to its unmistakable graphic style and you can also expect another thoroughly captivating detective adventure in terms of gameplay. Polygon writes ‘The essential puzzle game’ and PC Gamer adds: ‘One of the most original and challenging puzzle games I've played in years.’
The Rise of the Golden Idol takes you back to the 1970s. During your visit to the past, you solve 15 mysterious crimes and develop your own theories. There's a bigger mystery to unravel in an environment of hallucinogens, parapsychological events, fax machines and TV magazines. What sounds so confusing is actually a description of the producer. Convicts, talk show hosts, people in search of enlightenment - they're all part of the big mystery you'll be putting your nose into. But for now, check out the launch trailer.
