Strategy game The Valiant shows a 4 minute gameplay trailer about companions

The Valiant: Knights need swords to fight with, armour to protect themselves, horses to ride on - and they need loyal companions. These are introduced in the new trailer.

It is always a pleasure when publishers show detailed gameplay trailers before the release of a game - and not just 30-second clips (looking at you, God Of War Ragnarök). THQ Nordic shows how it's done with the "Companions Trailer" for the upcoming strategy title The Valiant. Although a release date has not even been set yet.

In the real-time strategy game The Valiant, your adventurous journey is under the banners of brotherhood and redemption. The single-player campaign lets you command knights, whole squads of many different units. Once you have completed the campaign, you can let off steam in the multiplayer modes - cooperative and competitive.

The knights in The Valiant also depend not only on sturdy swords, but also on armour, horses and - that's what the trailer shown here is all about - loyal companions. Of these, each and every one probably has special talents. Hunter Konrad, for example, knows how to turn a bow into a deadly weapon. And Grimhild introduces herself as the leader of a raven company. We are curious to see how the game developed by KITE Games... er... develops.

The Valiant Features

• Squad-based RTS with a variety of units, from rugged swordsmen to fast cavalry.
• Select hero and support squads in 15 hand-created exciting single-player missions, each with their own cutscenes, diaries set to music, difficulty levels and much more.
• Six hero squads, each with three different skill trees that offer unique passive and active skills as your hero levels up.
• Gain a variety of weapons and armour in the campaign, each with individual attributes and special skill options.
• Combining hero skills with weapons and equipment allows for a huge range of hero builds.
• In the three-player co-operative Last Man Standing mode, you'll take on hordes of enemies and earn experience to gain new skills and cosmetic items at higher levels.
• Compete in PvP modes with 1v1 and 2v2 support, cosmetic meta progression and special rewards for ranked matches.
