CD key not working for multiplayer login

Just got the game, when I try to login it says my CD Key is invalid. I know this is likely to be a problem with Ubisoft but I want to inquire here to see if anyone has similar issues, or the game being sold has a defunct key for multiplayer (Assumingly not as I installed the game fine from it).
