Trek to Yomi Story Trailer: A new swordfighting game from Devolver Digital
No Ghost of Tsushima for PC, but at least another swordfighting game with that very special black and white Japanese look is coming for us PC gamers in 2022: Trek to Yomi. For many, the highlight of the State of Play announcements.
Some nice games were announced at Sony's State of Play event yesterday. During the livestream, any plans for a release on Steam were deliberately hidden. Sure, they want to sell the in-house console. But you know what's good? Almost all of the games presented by the various publishers will also be released for PC on Steam. Among them is Trek to Yomi, distributed by Devolver Digital, developed by Flying Wild Hog (Shadow Warrior). And it looks really good.
Those who followed the State of Play event will have noticed that Trek to Yomi didn't match the other performances visually at all. While the developers of Exoprimal and, for example, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection rely on colorful game design, Trek to Yomi does without any colors at all. The developer studio deliberately replicated the look of classic Japanese swordfighting films for the samurai game. A design that can be optionally added to games like Ghost of Tsushima.
As the young swordsman Hiroki, you have sworn to your dying master to defend his city and the people living in it from all threats. Tragic events in Trek to Yomi force you to take up your sword and fillet human enemies in this action sidescroller. Sometimes a head or two will roll in the process.
