Summer Game Fest 2022: Warhammer Darktide gameplay trailer brings strong DOOM vibes
Okay, after the new gameplay trailer that developer Fatshark (Warhammer Vermintide) showed at Summer Game Fest 2022, it is now clear: Warhammer 40k: Darktide seems to be a visually and sound-wise very appealing, hard-hitting co-op shooter that should satisfy Warhammer and DOOM fans alike.
While Fatshark focused on the Warhammer fantasy universe with Warhammer Vermintide, in Warhammer Darktide the game takes place in the popular Warhammer 40k universe. This leads to a brutal slaughter in which four protagonists tear apart huge hordes of enemies with brute force. You pull powerful assault rifles out of the armoury, bludgeon enemies with huge hammers, let the chainsword rotate and even execute enemies with knives in the cruellest possible way. That's how brutal a Warhammer shooter has to be.
In the gameplay trailer linked here, the team in Warhammer 40k: Darktide has the task of securing energy generators that heretics have tampered with. Each squad member seems to be individually specialised - this ensures a lot of variety and requires team play for the co-op mode. The bottom line is that Warhammer Darktide brings together the best of games like DOOM or Left 4 Dead. Wipe out hordes of enemies, swiftly like in a fast-paced DOOM title.
Warhammer 40k: Darktide will be released on September 13th 2022 and you will soon be able to pre-order the action thriller on Gamesplanet.
