Warhammer 40,000 Dark Heresy revealed: The next RPG from the Pathfinder makers
At the Warhammer Skulls Event 2025, developer Owlcat Games announced Warhammer 40K: Dark Heresy as a role-playing game. This will be in very good hands with the Pathfinder developers.
Action, strategy, sports, role-playing: there are hardly any genres left without the Warhammer label. That's a good thing, because games with the Warhammer license usually stand for quality, as the recent action hit Space Marine 2 (currently on sale here) impressively proves. Not into shooting and prefer to rely on character builds and luck on the dice? Owlcat Games has announced a new PC role-playing game as part of the Warhammer Skulls Event: Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy. Unfortunately, no release date yet.
Dark Heresy follows on from Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader, which has a good 78 out of 100 points on the Metacritic rating aggregator and was also developed by Owlcat Games. Owlcat had previously made a name for itself with the brilliant CRPG Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous (Metascore 83). The game principle from Rogue Trader is to be continued with Dark Heresy. Dialogs in the turn-based CRPG will be fully voiced - which will certainly contribute positively to the atmosphere.
In Warhammer 40K: Dark Heresy, you take on the role of an acolyte who gathers a few companions around him under the umbrella of the Inquisition and ventures into the deep realms of the Empire. Lead various troops from the Warhammer universe and expect your decisions to determine the course of action in the Calixis sector. As an Inquisitor, protect the Empire from xenos, heretics and mutants and uncover the secrets surrounding the Tyrant Star. The main thing is to keep the Emperor happy - get rid of the heretics!
