Windrose: Trailer for the Ashlands update announces new missions, factions and a boss
Windrose is set to receive its first major update, ‘Ashlands’: the trailer from the Triple-i Initiative Showcase announces new quests, factions, a ship and a boss. Launching this winter.
At the Triple-i Initiative Showcase, the developers at Kraken Express unveiled the first trailer for ‘Ashlands’. The update marks the first major content release for Windrose. This is great news for many fans, as the pirate survival game sold over two million copies on Steam within a month of its Early Access launch in April.
This winter, you can look forward to new main and side missions, fresh factions, an additional ship and a tough boss. Among other things, the map is expanding to include a long-abandoned Spanish colony. You’ll also get revamped combat gameplay, smarter NPCs and further ship variants for the factions. The studio has even more in store for this year.
What is Windrose about?
Windrose is a survival-action game set in the age of 18th-century piracy. You take on the role of a captain who crosses swords with the legendary Blackbeard. What begins as a tale of survival and revenge evolves into a power struggle between empires, pirate clans and sinister forces. So there’s plenty to get stuck into on the seven seas.
You’ll gather resources, build everything from a simple hideout to a pirate stronghold, and recruit NPCs for your settlement. To do this, you’ll explore nearly 100 handcrafted points of interest, such as temples, shipwrecks and dungeons. On the high seas, you’ll switch between ketches, brigs and frigates, engaging in cannon duels and boarding battles. On land, you’ll hack, parry, dodge and even shoot with sabres. This works just as well when playing solo as it does in co-op with your crewmates.
To mark the Ashlands announcement, we’re currently offering Windrose with a 10 per cent discount on Gamesplanet for a limited time. Better to lower the price before a mutiny breaks out.
