And the young Bond is already up to the task, too, because he’s the star of the new spy action-adventure from the Hitman studio IO Interactive, 007 First Light, available on Gamesplanet as a Standard Edition and as a Deluxe Edition. On Metacritic, the game currently (May 28, 2026) boasts a royal 87 out of 100 in its PC average score. Here are the review scores in our overview, one day after release.

EuroGamer - 4/5

Over at EuroGamer the famous British spy earned his 00 status, with an impressive 4/5 stars. "First Light isn't the Bond game that I wanted from IO Interactive. But I had a great time with it regardless. IO has proved it was the right studio to handle the license, albeit for different reasons than I expected". They praised developer IO's attention for great stealth and sandbox gameplay, which makes sense given the HITMAN lineage that runs through the game.

Gamespot 8/10

Meanwhile the team over at Gamespot also loved it and gave it a mighty 8/10 rating. While you have a great story mode, there's also a nice little extra mode in the form of TacSim, which lets you take on challenges in a more linear vanish (think HITMAN's freelancer mode) as you progress through levels you can earn currency and spend it on tougher challenges. "I like this mode out of the gate, though the rewards feel lacking for now, with some lukewarm weapon skins and outfits on offer. IO plans to support TacSim with updates, and I look forward to seeing how it evolves. But for those who wondered if this could be the equivalent of Hitman’s incredible Freelancer mode, it’s far from that as of now. "
