Crazy Video: Ubisoft Sets Community Comments on AC Black Flag to Music as a Sailor's Song
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is getting a special video gift: The folk band The Longest Johns has set real comments and reviews from players of the original Black Flag to music as a sea shanty.
Steam Reviews Turned into a Sea Shanty
Shortly before the July 9 release, Ubisoft came up with a charming idea: Together with the British folk group The Longest Johns, they’ve turned real comments and reviews from fans of the original title Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag into a genuine shanty medley. So instead of the usual marketing buzzwords, the band sings what the community itself has left behind over the years on Steam and other platforms—nostalgic, humorous, and with plenty of pirate flair. The whole thing is accompanied by fresh gameplay footage from the upcoming remake, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
The Longest Johns are no strangers to fans of the genre: The Bristol-based band rose to fame in 2020 thanks to the sea shanty craze on TikTok, covering classics like “Wellerman” at the time. So thematically, they’re a pretty good fit for a pirate adventure.
