can you run a server with this version and play from a steam version on that server?

That worked for Farming Sim 15 already and will also be available with Farming Sim 17. The important thing is to have both versions on the same patch level.

ty i didn't know that it was a non steam version for fs15

Giants changed that half way. Standard Edition was sold as activation for Steam while Gold Edition was to be activated with Giants directly. The AddOn for FS15 was also a Giants activation but could be used with the Steam version directly.

It's good to know both are compatible without any issues. :)
