Farming Simulator 22: GIANTS responds to community feedback - changes to seasons, graphics and more!

Even before the release of Farming Simulator 22, developer GIANTS is taking the community's feedback to heart and is holding out the prospect of adjustments. These mainly concern the duration of the seasons, parts of the graphics and the millet harvest.

Under the title "Game Improvements" GIANTS Software writes exactly what the farming community wanted to hear: The developer is responding to the feedback and now some adjustments are to be made to Farming Simulator 22 even before the release on November 22nd 2021. Apparently, the community was bothered by the (inflexible) duration of the seasons, among other things. Suggestions concerning the graphical presentation and the harvesting of millet have also been heard by the Swiss. When millet professionals speak up, you have to react! No sooner said than done.

Farming Simulator 22 and the length of the seasons

Of course, when a game depicts seasonal change, it doesn't happen in real time, but in a compressed form. Who wants to be stuck in dingy autumn weather for months on end? The original plan was to shorten the duration of an entire year to just twelve days. One month would be roughly equivalent to one day in Farming Simulator 22.

Players didn't think the plan went far enough and so calls for more flexibility have been raised. As GIANTS writes on their website, the length of the seasons should therefore be individually adjustable - which is a great challenge for the developers. Because such an intervention massively influences all other game elements in Farming Simulator 22. But apparently a way will be found so that a month can optionally extend to up to 28 days. However, those who intervene in the duration during the current game can only do so after the end of a season.

More beautiful graphics, more realistic millet harvesting

Furthermore, GIANTS points out that the graphics have been constantly developed over the past weeks and months. What was shown at Gamescom, for example, would not necessarily correspond to what you will see in the finished Farming Simulator 22 today. But in this case, too, the community feedback has made a difference. For example, details in the representation of foliage have been improved, a revised Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO) ensures more credible shadows and a readjusted colour grading makes everything look even more realistic and coherent. As previously reported textures have also been revamped making detail even greater.

Farming professionals, who are apparently also familiar with millet harvesting in the real world felt that the depiction of the harvesting process was not realistic enough. In an older version of Farming Simulator 22, apparently the entire millet plant was harvested, which would not correspond to reality. What is new is that in future only the upper part, i.e. the fruit of the millet, will be bagged during harvesting.
