Mass Effect: Andromeda PC Settings Revealed, Recommended Settings targeting 30 FPS?
Not long to wait now until we're exploring a new galaxy with Mass Effect: Andromeda and as we get closer to release some new shocking details have emerged which may not please some PC players.
UPDATE: Since this Article went live, the game has been released on Origin Access via a 10 hour Trial and I can happily report that the game does offer a higher framerate for supported hardware but as always it's going to depend on your setup.
Details have emerged with the PC settings of Mass Effect: Andromeda and it looks like some gamers may end up having a 30 FPS experience unless they get a GTX 1070 or higher to achieve a 60 FPS, even more worrying is that the game is lacking support for 30/60 FPS in the settings menu which may cause some people to be concerned.
You can however expect a wide array of PC specific options as the settings menus have been shown off, we can expect a host of options such as Ambient Occlusion, Anti-Aliasing, Chromatic Aberration, Effects Quality, Film Grain, Lighting Quality, Mesh Quality, Post-Process Effect Quality, Resolution Scaling, Shader Quality, Shadow Quality, Terrain Quality, Texture Filtering Quality, Texture Quality, and Vegetation Quality.
While we've known about the specs for a while today is the first time we've had any information regarding the frame rates that we can expect using these settings, in a shocking discovery courtesy of EA's support page it appears that both the Minimum and Recommended System Requirements are targeting 30 FPS instead of the 60 which many of us had expected.
It's unclear how much we'll need to run the game at 60 FPS, recent footage released has showcased the game at 4k / 60 FPS so it does seem possible (though we're not sure on what hardware this was running on). Nvidia's own page has stated that you will need to have a GTX 1070 or higher to be able to get better resolutions and frame rates, but it doesn't mention if 60 FPS is possible on other hardware.
