Today we're visiting a Space Station, taking Orcs down, trying to avoid death, racing for the chequered flag and more! Let's take a look at the Day 5 highlights:

Prey (Action / First Person Shooter / Survival Horror)

Back in 2006 the world was treated to a new First Person Action game which had you fighting aliens aboard a ship which featured some portals, gravity and powerful weapons. With such a fantastic game it was almost a certainty that we'd get a sequel, and Prey 2 was on the cards for many years before finally being cancelled. After that announcement we were told that a rebooted version of Prey would be coming and be created by the team over at Arkane Studios (best known for Dishonored). Earlier this year we got our hands on the game as it launched, and while it's not quite the same game it is one of the best shooters this year. Prey tells the story of Morgan Yu, a scientist who wakes up aboard the Talos I Space Station where mysterious creatures known as the Typhon are lurking. It will be up to you to find a way to stop them and make it back to Earth, but it won't be easy! Best described as a "System Shock 2" type of game, you'll be exploring the space station as a semi open world, that has many secrets, paths and dangers lurking around every corner. The freedom to explore things at your own pace is quite a refreshing change and is a kind of metroidvania experience.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor GOTY (Action / Open World)

J. R. R. Tolkien has provided us with a great fantasy world in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit book, as well as the movies based on each. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is a third person action game which was created by Monolith (best known for work on the F.E.A.R. games). You play as Talion, who was once a ranger and is now forced to get revenge for his family, so he teams up with the undead elf Celebrimbor to fight back. The game features some fast paced action as you slice apart Orcs at will, though they may decide to hold a grudge against you and become stronger by defeating you thanks to the game's Nemesis System. The world of Middle-earth really comes to life, as you explore a huge open world that is filled with plenty to do and you're able to access certain fast travel points known as "Forge Towers" - or you can use beasts to get around the world faster. As you progress with the story you'll uncover more missions that tell the tale of your revenge, plus you can take on side quests that may offer up rewards - including meeting some known Lord of the Rings characters! Talion can either take on missions in stealth or take enemies head on with a focus on supernatural abilities and deadly weapon attacks.

RESIDENT EVIL 7 biohazard (Action / Survival Horror)

After a disappointing entry with Resident Evil 6, the series has returned to it's roots by focusing on a survival horror experience that feels much like a modern horror game. Resident Evil 7 tells a new story, that takes place in the Baker Home. As Ethan Winters you must find your Wife Mia who has gone missing, but who are the Bakers and what secrets lurk in their halls? Like with other entries in the series the game does rely on an inventory system, which can be used to store weapons/add ammo and use first aid to survive. Unlike others in the franchise the game takes on a "first person" view, that brings horror to the forefront and offers something new to the series. During the game you may end up having to solve puzzles, however they never outweigh the horror and you may go a few moments of feeling safe before coming face to face with a new horror. It also explains a little backstory thanks to the "VHS Tapes" that gives players a new perspective with another character and puzzles to solve. The series reboot was a welcome change and many are happy to see Resident Evil 7 return the franchise to it's roots!

Dark Souls III (Action / Adventure / Hack and Slash)

You have Died are the words you may end up seeing even when you sleep, as Dark Souls III is a game about trying to stay alive, while dealing with some terrifying creatures. If you're the type of gamer who finds most games "too easy" then the Dark Souls series is the genre for you, as it punishes you to breaking point. You may feel that it's impossible to beat the game, but with practice and learning tactics you'll come out on top. Much like other entries in the Dark Souls series, you will explore a huge open world and fight enemies, as well as trying to stay alive from countless perils that await. Combat has been made a bit faster in the third entry in the series, which can now allow players to sidestep attacks and swing weapons quicker in order to get in some sneak attacks. It will be up to the Ashen One to step foot into the Kingdom of Lothric to keep the First Flame from fading - but certain foes stand in his way and he will need to use his wits to evade and conquer them.

If you feel like braving the halls of Dark Souls III you can get it for 61% off today!

Project Cars (Sports / Racing / Simulation)

Project Cars is possibly one of the best racing experiences you're ever going to try, released back in 2015 by Slightly Mad Studios (who worked on early Need for Speed games). The game features over 74 drivable cars and over 110 tracks in 30 different locations, each one brought to life in stunning detail thanks to the game's fantastic visuals. It's not about visuals though, each car feels just like it's real life counterpart and the driving mechanics are a solid representation of how it feels to live life in the fast lane. While many racers approach an "Arcade" style, Project Cars tackles simulation and can see events that last multiple days which have changing weather/lighting conditions that can affect the outcome of a race and handling of a car. Don't forget the sequel is just around the corner and is releasing on September 22nd!

Get Project Cars today for 68% off! Additionally, anyone who purchases a copy of the game before the release of Project Cars 2 will get a voucher to save 11% off on either the Standard or Digital Deluxe version of the sequel!

Hidden Gem of the Day

Bayonetta (Action Hack and Slash)

Today's Hidden gem is the recently released PC version of Bayonetta, which originally launched on PS3 and 360 in 2009! The updated version is a fantastic port and can offer up to 60 FPS, improved visual features such as 4k support, anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, SSAO lighting, scalable texture and shadow quality, and more. Bayonetta is the story of a witch who struggles to remember her past, over the course of the game you'll be hacking and slashing your way through various creatures from the underworld with some fast paced combat. Bayonetta has an incredible fighting system, which is something many action movies try to emulate with a mix of gun/melee combos to unleash devastating attacks on enemies. PlatinumGames have been known to create some of the best action games in recent years, and Bayonetta stands among the best the studio has created. You're also able to upgrade and equip new types of weapons as you progress further into the story, which is level based and takes you to some breathtaking locations. Boss fights are also a key highlight here as massive beasts try to take down Bayonetta, but the black haired beauty is more than a match for them and is able to pull off insane feats to squash them (including being able to lift huge objects). One of the best Action Hack and Slash games on PC, definitely a good starting point for anyone who wants to start - with enough difficulty levels to give notices and veterans something to be happy about.
