Shadow of War Gameplay, showcases Legendary Gear and Kumail Nanjiani voices an Orc

Take a look at the improved gear system for the upcoming open world Lord of the Rings sequel Middle-earth: Shadow of War as the developers walk us through a live gameplay session.

Only a few months to go until we get our hands on another entry in the popular Middle-earth franchise as Middle-earth: Shadow of War arrives on October 10th. Getting closer to the release we get more info about the systems and gameplay that the sequel will have, plus comedian Kumail Nanjiani will be joining the voice cast to lend his talents to the game.

As always we warn caution as the gameplay demo may reveal some spoilers for the story (though it's light on spoilers and focuses more on gameplay).

The Shadow of War team are giving us a look at some of the gear that you'll be able to acquire in the game - with various ways to obtain legendary gear. As you progress in the game you will find certain pieces of Ithildin that can be used together to solve a door puzzle (much like the door in Fellowship of the Ring, which was revealed by Moonlight). We're also given a look at some new abilities, including the Shadow Strike - a powerful finisher that can be used to teleport to enemies and finish them off for a quick kill while chaining to multiple foes.

In the previous game Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, there was less focus on gear and you had to rely on Runes to upgrade your skills. This time however you'll have a richer set of armour and each piece will have different traits on them. For Example the Legendary Ring is a level 15 ring, with 132 maximum focus. Draining or Dominating enemies will recover 100% more Health. It will also regen 7 Focus per kill and set bonuses that include the 2 set bonus that allows you to gain Rage 50% of faster at the cost of Elven Rage lasting half as long, and the 4 set bonus which will replenish Elf-shots when killing an enemies during Elven Rage.

Additionally it's been revealed that Actor and Comedian, Kumail Nanjiani will be voicing The Agonizer - who is one of the Orcs you will be facing in the game. Here his vocal talents when the game arrives, or track him down and do your best to slice his head off!
