Gamesplanet's favorites for The Game Awards 2025
The Game Awards are back on December 11, 2025, in Los Angeles (Peacock Theater), hosted by Geoff Keighley. Here is Gamesplanet's selection for 2025, our favorites among this year's nominees. The main difficulty is not automatically choosing Clair Obscur.
Game of the Year: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - the juggernaut of the year, the most nominated (12 nominations) and our big favorite for its writing and artistic direction. Despite a selection of high-caliber titles (Hollow Knight: Silk Song and Hades II), any other result would be incomprehensible.
Best Achievement: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - for its visual boldness and a sense of place that sets it apart from the rest of the competition.
Best Narrative/Story: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - the storytelling is one of the game's greatest strengths.
Best Art Direction: Hades II - Supergiant Games has done it again. When we know what you're capable of and you still manage to surprise and amaze us.
Best Soundtrack/Music: Death Stranding 2: On the Beach - Clair Obscur would also be a legitimate choice here, but we're going to take a chance on DS2 with its music that accompanies the strangeness and emotions unique to a Kojima title.
Best Audio Design: SILENT HILL f - The audio treatment is a major part of the game's atmosphere.
Best Actor Performance: [SILENT HILL f](https://gamesplanet.com/game/silent-hill-f-steam-key--7540-1 - Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has three nominations in this category, but we're going to go with Konatsu Kato, an outsider who gave a remarkable performance. Watching her stream her playthrough of the game provided some fantastic moments.
Best Accessibility: Assassin's Creed Shadows - with Ubisoft's experience in this area, we can only admire their expertise.
Impactful games: South of Midnight - the culture of the southern United States is captivating in both the literal and figurative sense, and the game reflects on its heritage.
Best Ongoing Support/Game: No Man's Sky - The mere fact that the title is still in contention nearly 10 years after its initial release speaks volumes about the quality of its support.
Best Community Support: HELLDIVERS 2 - it takes a lot of people to fight for democracy and defend Super Earth.
Best indie game: Hollow Knight: Silksong - the Metroidvania of the year, as demanding as it is dense.
Best debut game (from an indie studio): Blue Prince - this puzzle game had us hooked; if you haven't tried it yet, do so.
Best Mobile Game: Sonic Rumble—mobile gaming isn't our focus, but the blue hedgehog continues to delight.
Best VR Game: Alien: Rogue Incursion—xenomorphs have never been so terrifying. A well-designed survival experience.
Best Action Game: DOOM: The Dark Ages - the Slayer with a medieval twist, which has been revamped while remaining just as satisfying.
Best action/adventure game: Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle - Indy's place is not yet in a museum.
Best RPG: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - historical ambition, almost unlimited depth. A sequel, but already a classic.
Best fighting game: 2XKO - Riot has set itself a new challenge by tackling Vs Fighting, and it's well on its way to succeeding.
Best Family Game: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds - Could this be the title that rivals Nintendo's mustachioed hero?
Best Strategy/Simulation Game: The Alters - Surprising gameplay loops and constant tension.
Best racing/sports game: REMATCH - Five's Rocket League, extremely enjoyable.
Best multiplayer game: Arc Raiders - biased opinion, no doubt, but the 250,000 active players should agree.
Best adaptation: The Last of Us - Season 2 - while we wait for season 3...
Most anticipated game: Grand Theft Auto VI - every announcement causes an earthquake. Is there any other upcoming game with as much hype?
Content creator of the year: For this category, we need your help. We'll pass.
Best esports game: League of Legends - the must-play MOBA with a scene that's as active as ever.
Best Athlete: MenaRD—an incredible year on Street Fighter 6 with nothing less than the title at EVO Japan and EVO.
Best Esports Team: Gen.G—an incredible run this year, despite falling short in the final four of the World Championships.
