Borderlands 2
Borderlands 2 is the sequel Borderlands, developed by Gearbox Software. Set once again on Pandora, you play as one of several classes of Vault Hunter and you end up going on a hunt to stop Handsome Jack's plan to unleash a powerful creature called "The Warrior". Along the way you'll travel far and wide to some exotic locations and even meet up with some characters from the original game such as Moxxi or Scooter. Gameplay is very loot oriented, you defeat enemies and they drop guns, items or maybe even a cool new skin for you to unlock. At your disposal you have some very poweful skill trees which unlock new action skills that you can use to unleash some pain or provide backup on defense. One of the best Coop shooters in recent years, best played with friends and some of the best story DLC - Tiny Tina's DLC is fantastic. If you can get a group of friends together this will be fun everyone.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
Set between the events of Borderlands and *Borderlands 2, Pre-Sequel tells the story of how Handsome Jack rose to power. New classes such as Claptrap make things quite fun, never knowing if your action skill will help you or make things worse, other characters such as Athena might use a shield to soak up bullets and then throw it back at the enemy. One of the big changes from Borderlands 2 is that this takes place on Pandora's Moon "Elpis", by being set on the moon you have a lack of gravity and you can use that to travel across wide canyons with boosts or butt slam enemies. Another new addition is various different weapons, maybe you have a freezing gun and then use a butt slam to finish them off! While the story isn't great at times and the gameplay is basically more Borderlands, the game is still fun and worth playing with friends.

Resident Evil 4
Originally released way back in 2005 and re-released in 2014, Resident Evil 4 sees Leon Kennedy make his return to the franchise. Leon travels to a village in Eastern Europe to find the President's daughter who has been kidnapped, though as you'd expect things aren't quite normal as the mysterious group known as the Los Illuminados are trying to prevent you from doing that. One of the biggest additions to this game over the original games in the series was the ability to have a closer camera which allowed for easier aiming during tense shootouts, another feature to the series was the fact you could now aim at different body parts to slow them down (such as shoot them in the leg to cause them to stumble).
It was the first game in the series to also add the quick time event system, something that would later continue in the franchise but they were never over the top. The inventory consists of a grid that up with various weapons, items or ammo, luckily you can always get help with the merchant that shows up at various points in the game and use him to restock on certain things.
The recent Resident Evil 4: The Ultimate HD Edition has several improvements over the orginal such as a game that runs at 60 frames per second, controls have been reworked to make them more responsive (including rebinds) and also many other things such as improved graphics. There are even some great boss battles, one of them has you fighting a cave troll and another might have you fighting a giant snake. If you never experienced it the first time around, this is probably the best version of the game you'll find - and it's on sale right now!
You can grab the game here for 70% off today or get one of the other games in the franchise for up to 84% off today only!
Saints Row: The Third
Saints Row: The Third takes the popular open world gang mayhem from previous titles and adds a new layer of over the top crazy. You play as the leader of the saints "The Boss" whose job it is to stop rival gangs and avenge a friend's death. The series has often found itself being compared to Grand Theft Auto but this game was the first time it went in a new direction, instead of focusing on a serious game it instead goes more towards a slapstick humour game where things can be crazy from one moment to the next. There was a moment in the game when I found myself driving a tiger around in the backseat of a car and another where I was a blow up doll in cyberspace, all of these are just amazing. Plenty of side activities to do as well from rolling a big yarn ball down a street like Katamari Damacy or fighting your way past waves of enemies in an obstacle course filled with danger. Of course the game features plenty of upgrades and customisation options, you have plenty of guns including guns that shoot sharks that swallow enemies to a bling shotgun that earns respect for your gang.
Not only is this a great single player game but it also features some great coop, highly recommend this with a friend if you can get one to play with you as I found it to be a special game with someone to enjoy it with.
Lead the saints to victory, get your copy here or you can get the full package (which contains the game and all DLC). Both versions are 75% off, we also have the entire franchise for up to 75% off today only!
Saints Row IV
The Saints are back, causing more chaos and doing more ridiculous things. After one of the best videogame intro sequences I have ever played, you become the President of the United States. Not long after you settle into the role alien forces attack the white house and take hostages, it's up to you to stop their leader Zinyak from destroying the world. Taking place 5 years after the events of Saints Row: The Third, instead of playing in the real world most of the time you play in a simulated Steelport where you eventually get super powers such as super jump, telekinesis, super sprint, blast or more. Each of these powers can be upgraded to do more or even add a new power type to the mix, for example you can get a freeze blast that let's you freeze enemies and then combine with a gun to crush them. While most of the game relies on powers you are given an impressive selection of guns (just like the previous) which consists of some new weapons like the Dubstep gun that forces everyone (and vehicles) to start dancing or the new Abduction gun which does just what it say.
Even though most of the game map is borrowed from Saints Row: The Third there is plenty new to the game that it doesn't matter, there is plenty of over the top humour and enjoyable side quests that you can easily forget it shares the same map. DLC is a mixed bag, some are great but there are some disappointing ones - my personal favourite is the Christmas DLC and considering the time of year this is something worth playing for Christmas (whether or not you have finished the game).
You can pick it up, along with all the games in the franchise for 75% off today only!
DMC - Devil May Cry
Back in 2013 we got a rebooted Devil May Cry game from the guys over at Ninja Theory (who had previously worked on such titles like Heavenly Sword and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West). This new game brought with it a redesigned Dante (that many people didn't like), the story revolves around Dante teaming up with his long lost brother Virgil to take down Mundus - a demon overlord who is creating hell on Earth. Levels are a mix of platforming with hack and slash elements, if you've played a Devil May Cry game it has more platforming elements but still has quite a bit of combat - including bosses which require you to learn weak spots for, it's got several difficulty modes so you're going to find a difficulty that suits your playstyle.
There are plenty of weapons too such as swords, scythes, guns and more! Each one can be upgraded several times so there are some RPG elements scattered through the game, including being able to upgrade your other abilities. Also making it's return to the game is the Devil Trigger and with it you can slow down the world around you as well as levitating enemies in the air for you to dish out some even more powerful attacks on.
Simply put this is one of the best, if not the best platforming hack and slash games on PC and while unlikely Capcom would make a sequel at this point I would personally love to see this series continue in this rebooted fashion. 2013 was a strong for videogames and this was no different, it was the first time in the Devil May Cry series that I actually loved every moment of and I am not great at hack and slash platformers :P
DMC - Devil May Cry is available for 75% off or you can grab Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition for 50% off today only!
The Darkness II
The Darkness II takes places 2 years after the events of the original game, you play as Jackie Estacado who is Don of the Franchetti crime family. After an attack from a rival mob at one of his restaurants Jackie embraces The Darkness once more and uses it to stop anyone that gets in his way. All he wants to do is settle down with his girlfriend Jenny, though fate has something else in mind for the pair of lovers.
The game features a comic book noir style approach with some great RPG/FPS elements such as being able to wield car doors as shields and throw them back in their face or being able to slash an enemy in two! The game also focuses heavily on staying out of the light, to do this you'll need to destroy lights around the level (a bit like Splinter Cell) as you're weaker when exposed to it. Powers are quite important too as you'll get a range of different abilities such as Swarm, Ground Pound, Demonic Lift and more as you build up your character with "essence" that's gained from killing enemies.
As an action game it's filled with plenty of gunplay and satisfying combat to keep anybody happy, the story has a few twists and while a little short I did have a very enjoyable time completing this. Would love to see another game in this series one day as I feel it's a bit open ended. It also has Co-op and Multiplayer too if you're looking to get a buddy involved.
