Summer is Here!

We're turning up the heat and kicking off this year's Summer Sale with a bang! Over the next week we'll have plenty of sizzling deals for you to roast on a fire and sink your teeth into, if deals aren't enough we'll be sure to fill the next week with contests and other fun events which may result in you bagging a free game (as a hint follow our Twitter and Facebook pages)! The GamesPlanet Summer Sale will feature over 900 (sorry not 9000!) discounts, each day we'll be bringing you a set of 24 hour discounts which will save you even more - but be warned these will only be around for a limited time and when they're gone, they're gone!

Day 4 is upon us, today we've got Superheroes, Remote Controlled Cars, a Trip to Los Santos, Horsemen of the Apocalypse and a Cuban Paradise all up for grabs with fantastic deals on all! Let's take a look at some of them a little closer with today's guide.

Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V is the pinnacle of the series, it's without a doubt the best game I have ever played and became my favourite game of all time back in 2013. It has everything you could want in a game, a great story, fantastic characters, plenty of variety, a large city filled with even the tinies of detail and so much more. Instead of having one character to control you get 3 to do missions with, each one has their own unique style and action ability that can be used. Controls are tight in everything from driving to shooting, it's like each one could make up their own game! Exploring the city is such a treat and because of the size you're going to be exploring for a long time, perhaps you'll even spot some of the smallest things that you never even knew were in it. Multiplayer is such a blast with friends, imagine having a living world to be in and do anything you want with virtually no limit. There are even custom modes the community has created such as dog fighting jets or perhaps a cat & mouse chase with jets hunting down people on bikes. Heists are probably the best thing about the game, you can plan your mission and then decide how you want it to play out - whether you go for the quiet approach or go in guns blazing.

Since the original release back in 2013 the improved PC version features support for up to 4k resolutions, a first person mode, improved weather effects, more wildlife, increased traffic and so much more. Shoutout to the soundtrack too as it's got one of the biggest ever created for a videogame (they even added more for the updated version) at around 391 tracks from the greats such as Queen, Kenny Loggins, ZZ Top, Britney Spears, Rihanna to original artists and lesser known tracks.

I could go on and on about this game, there are so many great moments whether it's trying to get someone out of a tall building by rappelling down the side of it or even landing a small plane into a larger cargo plane. Choices in games are often limited by what's available to the player, imagine if you had a sandbox and could do anything - it would be GTA 5. There is no other game for me, this even replaced Ocarina of Time as my favourite so it must have done something right as it held that spot for 15 years.

If you too want to be visiting the wonders of Los Santos, you can get it here for 45% off or the entire franchise is up to 70% off today only!

Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition

Sure we've had a movie adaptation of Batman vs Superman recently and while that wasn't to everyone's taste you can create your very own duels featuring over 30 of the most famous comic book favourites of all time. Maybe you'd like to try The Flash vs The Joker? With so many characters in the game anything is possible, it's from NetherRealm Studios who were the guys behind the Mortal Kombat series so they know their stuff when it comes to fighting games (ports on the other hand..). Injustice: Gods Among Us story takes place in an alternate version of the Justice League's universe where Superman has become a corrupt tyrant due to the Joker tricking him into killing someone very close to his heart and destroying his city of Metropolis. It's up to Batman to travel to our Earth and recruit our Justice League in order to put a stop to him once and for all.

Gameplay is your standard fighting fair, you'll be able to block and unleash ultimate attacks which can cause a ton of damage. One cool thing is the fact that levels are multi-tiered and you can have up to 3 sections to any level, explore new depths in the Fortress of Solitude or Batman's Batcave as you kick/punch your opponent into a level transition.

You also have several challenges which are a nice break from the story game but don't really offer much but are still nice as it can help you practice with a certain hero. Multiplayer matches are fun and exciting, though at times on PC you may run into issues as the game can be a little flaky when it comes to finding games and as such it might be better to play this solo or find friends to play with you. There is so much in this game, if you're a massive superhero fan then this game will keep you smiling all the way through as it features not only a killer fighting system but a great story and superb voice acting from famous voice actors that have honed their skills as said character (example Kevin Conroy as Batman).

We've got Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition for 75% of today only and it's worth every penny!

Toybox Turbo

Do you remember the classic Micro Machines games from the 90's? Toybox Turbos comes from the guys at Codemasters - the people responsible for creating the original Micro Machines titles. At it's core it's a very good attempt to capture the magic of those games, a top down view, crazy tracks and some awesome powerups all make it a thrilling multiplayer game.

It features 18 tracks, 35 vehicles and 6 game modes to play around with. You can even play the game online to compete with others around the globe, though it's still best when played in local splitscreen with friends.

What I loved about this was how it took a classic franchise like Micro Machines and did everything it could to bring that back. Sure it's got some issues and lacking a few things such as a course editor but if you can get past those then you're going to enjoy it for what it is.

Toybox Turbos is 73% off until the end of the sale :)

Darksiders

This is where the Darksiders franchise began, it featured you thrust in the world of War who is one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Defying the gods War is sent back to Earth stripped of his powers and for allowing hell to come to the World it's up to him to put things right once again.

Much like the second game it requires backtracking and exploring levels, unlike the sequel though it's more a linear experience and you'll have far less to do as levels are smaller. That's not to say the action is any less epic as it features some killer boss fights and some unique elements which feels like you're reading a Dark Action novel comic. Like his brother Death from Darksiders II, War has plenty of weapons as his disposal and as you'd expect there are plenty of upgrades to sink you teeth into.

It's also a shorter experience compared to the second game, there are rumours of a remastered edition coming too but for now this is still a great game and if you want to start the Darksiders games it would be a good idea to jump into the first game. Luckily you can get both games in the franchise pack, which is even better value for your money!

We have a killer deal for you with 75% off Darksiders and if that isn't enough for you we have the entire franchise on sale for up 80% off, all today only!

Darksiders II

If you were a fan of any of the Zelda titles or God of War franchise and wanted a game like them on PC then Darksiders II would be it. As one of the four horseman Death, you must clear your brother War's name by finding proof of his innocence. Your journey is one filled with adventure as you travel from frozen tundras to open fields, your horse Despair is on hand to help you get from place to place. Since it's a mix of Zelda/God of War it has plenty of puzzle elements which require you to get upgrades to progress further in the massive dungeons and some great bosses. Combat requires you to arm yourself with some powerful loot that you can find randomly dropped from enemies (think Diablo), you'll eventually get more skills and combos to help you out.

The game is a massive step up from the previous title, it has a big open world to explore and plenty of dungeons to visit. It's a grand adventure that'll keep you busy for at least 20 hours or more if you're tackling everything, there is never a lack of things to do. I hope one day they make a Darksiders 3, there is such potential in the series.

Should you want to conquer the lands as Death we have the recently released Deathinitive Edition for 75% off. If that isn't enough for you we have the entire franchise on sale for up 80% off, all today only!

The Cave

The Cave is a game from the legendary Ron Gilbert who was responsible for the creation of the Monkey Island titles, it also features similar elements from another title he worked on Maniac Mansion. The game gives you the choice of picking 3 characters from a possible 7, each one has their own set of abilities for exploring the depths of The Cave. Puzzles might require you to use several characters abilities to solve them like holding levers down on each one to open a gate. It's got a great art style coupled with some great narrative makes it a great game, even if the game is a little short you can play it several times to get different areas since each character gets their own unique area. Also playable in Local coop should you and a buddy want to get together to explore!

Explore The Cave for 75% off all sale long!

Just in case you were thinking this was all the deals we had to today it's a very small selection of the larger set we have on offer, we have plenty of deals such as Stellaris for 35% off, Pillars of Eternity Hero Edition for 35% off, The Evil Within for 55% off, *Tropico 5: Complete Collection * for 78% off and many more!
