GamesPlanet Advent Weekend #1 Sale Guide (Part 2)

Wrap up with our Winter Deals!

Welcome to the second part of our Weeekend #1 Sale guide, if you thought yesterday had some great games lined up check out this bunch of impressive titles that'll leave you wanting more ;)

From Demons to Gangs, from Heroes to Monsters. Let's dive into a few more recommendations coming from my own personal experience, maybe you'll find a title that you've never heard of before or were always waiting to try but never found the right time. Our discounts should make that dedcision a little easier!

Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V is the pinnacle of the series, it's without a doubt the best game I have ever played and became my favourite game of all time back in 2013. It has everything you could want in a game, a great story, fantastic characters, plenty of variety, a large city filled with even the tinies of detail and so much more. Instead of having one character to control you get 3 to do missions with, each one has their own unique style and action ability that can be used. Controls are tight in everything from driving to shooting, it's like each one could make up their own game! Exploring the city is such a treat and because of the size you're going to be exploring for a long time, perhaps you'll even spot some of the smallest things that you never even knew were in it. Multiplayer is such a blast with friends, imagine having a living world to be in and do anything you want with virtually no limit. There are even custom modes the community has created such as dog fighting jets or perhaps a cat & mouse chase with jets hunting down people on bikes. Heists are probably the best thing about the game, you can plan your mission and then decide how you want it to play out - whether you go for the quiet approach or go in guns blazing.

Since the original release back in 2013 the improved PC version features support for up to 4k resolutions, a first person mode, improved weather effects, more wildlife, increased traffic and so much more. Shoutout to the soundtrack too as it's got one of the biggest ever created for a videogame (they even added more for the updated version) at around 391 tracks from the greats such as Queen, Kenny Loggins, ZZ Top, Britney Spears, Rihanna to original artists and lesser known tracks.

I could go on and on about this game, there are so many great moments whether it's trying to get someone out of a tall building by rappelling down the side of it or even landing a small plane into a larger cargo plane. Choices in games are often limited by what's available to the player, imagine if you had a sandbox and could do anything - it would be GTA 5. There is no other game for me, this even replaced Ocarina of Time as my favourite so it must have done something right as it held that spot for 15 years.

If you too want to be visiting the wonders of Los Santos, you can get it here for 50% off!

Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition

Sure we've had a movie adaptation of Batman vs Superman recently and while that wasn't to everyone's taste you can create your very own duels featuring over 30 of the most famous comic book favourites of all time. Maybe you'd like to try The Flash vs The Joker? With so many characters in the game anything is possible, it's from NetherRealm Studios who were the guys behind the Mortal Kombat series so they know their stuff when it comes to fighting games (ports on the other hand..). Injustice: Gods Among Us story takes place in an alternate version of the Justice League's universe where Superman has become a corrupt tyrant due to the Joker tricking him into killing someone very close to his heart and destroying his city of Metropolis. It's up to Batman to travel to our Earth and recruit our Justice League in order to put a stop to him once and for all.

Gameplay is your standard fighting fair, you'll be able to block and unleash ultimate attacks which can cause a ton of damage. One cool thing is the fact that levels are multi-tiered and you can have up to 3 sections to any level, explore new depths in the Fortress of Solitude or Batman's Batcave as you kick/punch your opponent into a level transition.

You also have several challenges which are a nice break from the story game but don't really offer much but are still nice as it can help you practice with a certain hero. Multiplayer matches are fun and exciting, though at times on PC you may run into issues as the game can be a little flaky when it comes to finding games and as such it might be better to play this solo or find friends to play with you. There is so much in this game, if you're a massive superhero fan then this game will keep you smiling all the way through as it features not only a killer fighting system but a great story and superb voice acting from famous voice actors that have honed their skills as said character (example Kevin Conroy as Batman).

We've got Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition for 75% off this weekend and it's worth every penny!

Darksiders II

If you were a fan of any of the Zelda titles or God of War franchise and wanted a game like them on PC then Darksiders II would be it. As one of the four horseman Death, you must clear your brother War's name by finding proof of his innocence. Your journey is one filled with adventure as you travel from frozen tundras to open fields, your horse Despair is on hand to help you get from place to place. Since it's a mix of Zelda/God of War it has plenty of puzzle elements which require you to get upgrades to progress further in the massive dungeons and some great bosses. Combat requires you to arm yourself with some powerful loot that you can find randomly dropped from enemies (think Diablo), you'll eventually get more skills and combos to help you out.

The game is a massive step up from the previous title, it has a big open world to explore and plenty of dungeons to visit. It's a grand adventure that'll keep you busy for at least 20 hours or more if you're tackling everything, there is never a lack of things to do. I hope one day they make a Darksiders 3, there is such potential in the series.

Should you want to conquer the lands as Death we have the recently released Deathinitive Edition for 80% off. If that isn't enough for you we have the franchise pack on sale for 82% off!

Dishonored

Dishonored is a stealth action game, you play as Corvo Attano who is framed for a murder he did not commit. The game takes place in Dunwall, an industrial city where technology and otherworldly forces coexist. Eventually you find yourself getting powers which allow you to climb up walls, possess characters, send a deadly swarm of rats to devour a corpse and more. Levels are designed so you can focus on either Stealth or a direct approach, you get a ranking for the way you finish a mission and might have side objectives to complete. Design is quite a marvel to admire, the city feels alive and you feel apart of that world. This is one of those games I found myself caught up enjoying every moment I played it, there is so much to do and you can play the levels a few times to try things a new way, you even have challenges for extra replay. If you enjoy Stealth games or action games you'll have a great time with this.

Get Dishonored or Dishonored - Definitive Edition, both are 50% off. You can also grab the latest Dishonored 2 for 13% off.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist

Sam Fisher returns as the leader of the recently created Fourth Echelon, this time he has allies to help him in his mission such as a returning Anna Grimsdottir and newcomers Isaac Briggs and Charlie Cole. The story sees you travel to various locations such as a Santa's workshop to Guantanamo Bay, from London to Philadelphia. It's another global affair taking place all around the world, this time however you're doing it in style as you're giving your own cargo plane the Paladin. From here you're able to equip loadouts, start missions and use it as a hub for the entire game (of which there is plenty do). There is so much content in this game that you have a single player campaign, some coop missions and multiplayer - each one offering hours of gameplay.

This is the best game in the series since Chaos Theory released way back in 2005, it goes back to allowing you more freedom in how you complete a level whether that's being more stealthy or tackling things head on, something that was lacking in Conviction. If you want to fully experience this game you might want to find a friend to play it with, but if you just want to do the single player that's fine as well and just as enjoyable.

Splinter Cell Blacklist and the other titles in the franchise are all on sale for up to 67% off!

DOOM

It's hard to believe that the original DOOM came out way back in 1993, I remember playing it as a kid and having a blast navigating around corridors filled with demons, the whole concept of the FPS genre was in it's infancy back then and to us it was a great experience (I mean you couldn't even aim up/down back then). Fast forward 23 years later and we've had countless FPS games that have re-defined the genre to make it a standout category among gamers, from the Half-Life's to the Call of Duty's. However once franchise has always managed to stick around and that's DOOM, the recent installment in the franchise sees you once again heading to Mars ready to kick ass.

When you first begin DOOM you're thrown straight into the action as you wake up on a table it becomes clear that hell has invaded and moments later you're shooting your first enemy before leaping off the table. Within a few minutes you're already heading outside to feast your eyes on this gorgeous planet, it could quite possibly be one of the best looking games this year and this is thanks to the incredible id Tech 6 engine that's powering it (which will work on practically any machine). Unlike other games, DOOM doesn't get bogged down on story elements or heavy narrative, what it does do is just put you into crazy action with guns killing enemies. I love this break from the recent shooters as most of them become cutscene heavy or take you out of the action, but DOOM delivers non-stop action to get your adrenaline pumping. As you progress in the game you'll encounter various enemy types, brand new weapons (including old favourites like the BFG) - each one capable of doing various abilities which you can switch on the fly (and unlock new ways to use them with runes you find), plenty of secrets tucked away in corners and even a chance to find secret levels which are remade from the original DOOM games.

It brings back the classic shooter, the one we all remember from our childhood (unless you're actually too young to remember the original games) and that's a great thing. If you feel like just switching off for a few hours and blasting enemies you can do just that. Quite simply put, this may be the best FPS game I have played this year. It's just a masterpiece from visuals, sounds, variety and nostalgia.

My only issue is that the Multiplayer doesn't really bring a sense of what made the old Multiplayer fun, as a Single-Player game though DOOM is fantastic and highly recommended for anyone wanting a FPS game.

Get DOOM or grab any of the franchise for up to 68% off!

That's the wrap for this weekends sale guide, come back next week when we've got even more great deals prepared for you! Remember this is a small taster of deals and you should check out the full list on our Advent Weekend Promo Page.
