Resident Evil 7 - What you need to know

Resident Evil 7 has landed and horror returns in the latest entry to Capcom's popular survival horror series as it promises to go back to what made the series great again!

The Story of Resident Evil 7

Since the last entry in the series (Resident Evil 6) arrived a few years ago, Capcom have been trying to bring back a sense of survival horror that hasn't been seen since early Resident Evil titles and with the release of Resident Evil 7 today they're doing just that. Gone are the silly QTE events, we're shifting to a first person view this time to immerse the player in a whole different setting - but many of the series staples such as crafting and searching for items remains.

The series will shift gears and take on a kind of Texas Chainsaw Massacre approach, with tight areas and jump scares aplenty. As the game now has a new first person perspective you'll be right in the shoes of the lead character as he stumbles around inside a mysterious house, who are the Baker family? What secrets do they hide? And more importantly, have they ever heard of cleaning?

Resident Evil 7 puts you in the role of Ethan Winter as you travel to the tranquil village of Dulvey, somewhere in the marshes of the American Louisiana. Where you stumble upon the eerily creepy estate of the Baker family. Winter's wife Mia, who has been missing since three years, has given a life-sign. The property of the Bakers is considered a place of stay, but what lurks in their property? It'll be your job to find out and hopefully survive what awaits inside. And as you soon come to realize the Bakers themselves are not completely trustworthy. Winter stumbles alone in the house of the family alone, finds a crow in a microwave, intestines in cooking pots, rotten meat in the fridge and even half-decayed corpses, before he is beaten unconsciously by family head Jack Baker. Later Winter does not wake up from a bad dream - the nightmare is now a reality.

RESIDENT EVIL 7 biohazard - Trailers Recap

Resident Evil goes back to its roots in this next entry in the series - which is by far one of the biggest departures from the recent entries in the franchise and goes back to a more traditional sense of horror (not unlike games like Amnesia Dark Descent or Slender - The Arrival). To help you prepare we have put together a list of all the trailers into a handy playlist below which will let you view all of them in one place.

Should you want to give the game a shot before buying though, you can give the demo a try and with any luck you'll survive it wanting more! The game is clearly going in the right direction and I appreciate the return to classic horror instead of the button mashing QTE game recent games in the series adopted ;)
