Silent Hill f to be released on September 25 - trailer shows what players can expect

Konami has announced the release date for Silent Hill f: The new installment of the horror series will be released on September 25, 2025. The new trailer not only shows cutscenes, but also direct gameplay for the first time. The action is embedded in an oppressive, surreal atmosphere.

First impressions of the gameplay

Between the story sequences, several gameplay excerpts from Silent Hill f can be seen: Protagonist Hinako moves carefully through narrow alleys, uses melee weapons such as an iron bar, and dodges attacks. The game mechanics are still presented in a reserved manner, but the visual style and atmosphere leave an impression - this is what a Silent Hill should look like.

The longer the trailer runs, the more the decay comes into focus. Red plant-like structures spread out in the surroundings and slowly cause everything to decay. Instead of quick moments of shock, Silent Hill f (at least in the trailer) relies more on oppressive images, disgust and an oppressive mood that gradually builds up.

Acoustically, too, everything remains reduced: few loud screams, little dramatic music, but slow creaking and wafting sounds. The game seems less interested in scaring and more interested in creating discomfort - and doing so continuously and insidiously. So the trailer makes it clear: Silent Hill f doesn't necessarily just want to shock, it wants to get stuck in your head.

Not sure what the f means, I think it's to try and separate it from the main series as it's a spin off. Several theories of what it could mean, like: the musical note, flower and other things on the Internet but nothing concrete it seems.

Thanks for the reply.

Seeing in game folks are often too terrified to know "what it all means," I guess it's quite fitting for a Silent Hill game.

Perhaps it means nothing at all? Wouldn't surprise me.
But Sales and Marketing would have figured out it gets people
talking about it. Ahh.....just like we are.

It's definitely different from the usual games in the series that have a more western setting. I'm looking forward to the change in location.

I didn't know that. Same here. New setting, sounds like a great idea, as long as they can maintain the atomosphere that only the Silent Hill series can do.
