Fan made Star Wars Battlefront project given Cease and Desist by LucasFilm
There has been a disturbance in The Force
The upcoming mod Galaxy in Turmoil, which was going to be a mod based on the cancelled Star Wars Battlefront 3 game has been blocked by LucasFilm. In June they received a Cease and Desist order from LucasFilm themselves, after meeting with them to discuss the project it turned out that due to EA's license for publishing new Star Wars titles it would not be possible for them to launch the game after all.
It's not the end of the mod though as they are still planning to work on the game just like before, only this time it will be stripped of all Star Wars content.
Going forward, Frontwire Studios will be pivoting away from Star Wars and embarking on a mission to create a new, original game in a never before seen universe. Our game will still have massive 64-player battles, ground-to-space combat, destructible capital ships, and a full single-player campaign. We will also still be releasing Galaxy in Turmoil on Steam as planned and it will remain a free game.”
As of right now the game is still in production, though the direction has shifted it's still coming to Steam (as far as we know). You can view more on the project via the Steam page - http://store.steampowered.com/app/488430/
