Street Fighter 6 arrives in 2023, gets a brand new gameplay trailer!

At the State of Play in June 2022, Capcom made a fighting appearance with Street Fighter 6. Trailers show first gameplay scenes, a new game mode, the live commentator feature and a refreshing logo redesign.

The presentation of Street Fighter 6 at Sony's State of Play event was undisputedly one of the few highlights. Graphically and in terms of content, the fighting game series takes a big leap forward with the sixth part. Backgrounds and characters appear more vivid and look more realistic - without sweeping spectacular effects under the carpet with a foot sweep.

Under the new Street Fighter logo, which now looks less like a simplified comic clipart, familiar protagonists such as Luke, Ryu, Chun-Li and Jamie fight in the training room, at selected, beautifully animated fight locations and even on the streets of a freely accessible open world setting.

Street Fighter 6's Three Main Game Modes

Street Fighter 6 goes into battle for supremacy in the beat-'em-up genre with three very different game modes. The World Tour is actually a story mode for single player that has never been seen before in Street Fighter. Explore the open world of a bustling city and make a name for yourself on the streets as a Street Fighter legend.

The Fighting Grounds game mode, on the other hand, is more of the classic Street Fighting that virtual street fighters are used to. Capcom states that the fight modes known from Street Fighter 5 will also be included in the Fighting Ground mode of Street Fighter 6. For beginners, Street Fighter 6 has an optional, simplified control system. You can use it to execute special attacks without having to memorise complex key combinations beforehand. If you really want to hit the crap out of someone, you can make full use of the so-called Drive System for more in-depth fights. But be careful: if you completely empty the drive display, you will enter a state of exhaustion.

Capcom has also announced the Battle Hub mode. The Hub is intended to make it easier to interact (and fight) with other online players. "Friendly rivalries" is what Capcom calls it. The studio plans to reveal more at a later date.

New live commentary feature in Street Fighter 6

And there is another special feature that makes the developers of Street Fighter 6 proud: the brand new live commentaries, which Capcom presents in detail here in a second trailer. The developer studio was able to hire well-known commentators from the official Capcom Pro Tour for voice recordings that make the fighting action in Street Fighter 6 seem particularly lively. When eSports broadcasting veteran Aru and Capcom Pro Tour moderator Jeremy "Vicious" Lopez commentate on your fights, you will feel like real Street Fighter Pro gamers yourself.

We can expect more gameplay presentations from Capcom in the coming months. Street Fighter 6 doesn't have a concrete release date yet, but is expected to enter the ring fully trained sometime in 2023. The game will be available soon on Gamesplanet.
