Gamesplanet visits Paradox at the PDXCON 2017 Event

Paradox Intereactive invited us to their PDXCON 2017 event at Stockholm last weekend, with our lovely Pierre getting a glimpse at future titles - including freshly revealed titles BattleTech and Surviving Mars.

Last weekend in Stockholm everything was in the shape of gigantic Mech robots with the reveal of BattleTech and Paradox has revealed itself as a publisher. But the PDXCON 2017 was not just about BattleTech. Paradox has invited selected partners from the gaming industry and 700 fans to Sweden to present their upcoming games. Including the previously Kickstarted RTS game BattleTech and Surviving Mars, a promising new title from the great team at Haemimont Games, who previously worked on Tropico 3-5.

BattleTech: Beta test this summer

Harebrained schemes have already made a name for themselves with Shadowrun Returns and Shadowrun: Hong Kong. The experienced developer studio has a great responsibility in the implementation of BattleTech, because the brand has millions of fans around the world. The expectations for the coming RTS are quite high, but the trailer released at the PDXCON 2017 event by Paradox Trailer looks promising. But how does the new BattleTech play? A detailed gameplay video of Harebrained Schemes shows the multiplayer battles in the game with Game Director Mike McCain and Studio Manager Mitch Gitelman doing battle against one another!

Paradox has announced a Multiplayer Beta for BattleTech this summer, which is scheduled to start on June 1st. Unfortunately, this first betaphase is only reserved for Kickstarter Backers, who have pledged at least $50 for the game. As soon as we receive more information about further, open or closed beta phases, you will find it here in our community section or on our Facebook page.

Surviving Mars: populate the Red Planet, but right

Developers at Haemimont Games have been responsible for adding some sunshine with the Tropico series, as they worked on Tropico 3-5. The Tropico games are also among some of the best RTS games ever created and are enjoyed by many games around the globe. So the where can the experienced studio go next, how about space? They are taking us on a journey to Mars with their upcoming RTS Surving Mars coming next year.

Surviving Mars is most likely to be comparable to games like Anno 2205. You are diligently building resources on Mars, making the land fertile, stamping various buildings from the rusty soil, losing as few colonists as possible.trailer we can see some CGI Colonists plotting to build on the red planet. There is no planned release date for Surviving Mars yet, but it will be coming in 2018 to PC and also consoles!

Further announcements from Paradox Interactive

While the event may have been about revealing BattleTech and Surviving Mars, that doesn't mean there isn't much else to talk about as we take a look at the upcoming release schedule from Paradox in the upcoming months ahead!

Cities Skylines: Mass Transit

Mass Transit will be a must have for all Skylines players. One of the largest additions to Cities Skylines will bring new features, such as the introduction of Ferries, Single Railway and more importantly - adds in Airships for the first time! You can also kit out your city with new buildings, suburban traffic points or some new road types. Mass Transit is out this week, on May 18th 2017!

Europe Universalis IV: Third Rome

In Europa Universalis IV the fight still isn't over. This spring, the strategy continues with the Third Rome Expansion. This new DLC will expand the main game by region-specific content, with a focus on the great powers of early history, such as the Russian cultured nations. For Russia, Third Rome brings two new forms of government with unique capabilities. Revolutions oppressed her with diplomatic resources and the military resources allow you to recruit new units. The release for Third Rome will be Spring 2017.

Heart of Iron IV: Death or Dishonor

Hearts of Iron IV will offer yet another expansion for the War RTS. Death or Dishonor is a Country Pack for the strategy game, it comes with 4 new focus trees with warlike clashes from the perspective of Hungary, Romania, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia. Including New Features for Equipment Conversion, New Music from Andreas Waldetoft and New Options regarding Diplomacy. The release for this is still TBA, but hopefully not too far away.

Steel Division: Normandy 44

The team at Eugen Systems and masterminds behind the Act of Aggression game are hard at work on their next RTS hit with Steel Division: Normandy 44 taking us back to WWII. The real-time strategy game (RTS) lets you command units in the Second World War with historic recreation for some of the real battles which took place all thos years ago. A lot of tactical skill is required - in a complex single-player campaign and in multiplayer mode. It controls its legendary military divisions from six different countries. A must for RTS fans who are not keen on the Sci-Fi approach to the genre. The release is just around the corner and Steel Division: Normandy 44 will be coming on May 23rd 2017.

As an Official Partner of Paradox, we are pleased to be able to include all of the titles shown at the PDXCON 2017 event. In addition to their upcoming titles BattleTech and Surviving Mars, they have yet another RTS on the horizon with the release of Steel Division coming later this month. If you're an RTS fan, you should have an eye on this war themed game which launches soon. This can be already pre-ordered with us and you'll get immediate access to the Multiplayer Beta.
